The original Tesla Roadster was introduced a little over a decade ago in 2008 and lasted up until 2012. It was a quirky but fairly obscure car at the time and did not populate many driveways. The new Tesla Roadster was introduced almost two years ago and it shook the internet. The performance numbers announced were simply astounding with a 250+ MPH top speed, 0-60 in under 2 seconds, and just over 600 miles of range. This beast of a machine comes equipped with all-wheel-drive and four seats which makes it more practical than people may think. To put it simply, the Roadster is something that should make people appreciate electric cars and the potential they have.

But where is the Tesla Roadster? Well, reports suggest that it will go on sale in 2020. The base price for a Tesla Roadster is $200,000 with a minimum reservation price of $50,000. The Founder Series price, which is limited to 1,000 units, is $250,000 with a reservation price of $250,000. Yes, a buyer that wants the Founder Series will have to cough up $250,000 to have the keys to a limited edition Roadster. At the moment, ordering banks have not opened yet and some reports suggest that the Roadster will not go on sale until the Model Y comes out.

Tesla has been a bit shaky in meeting expectations for release dates. However, that is no reason to not get excited over a car like this. This car and its unrelenting performance should encourage other manufacturers to design and develop cars to rival a machine like this. Indeed, competition benefits the customer and makes people take pride in the vehicles they own. Tesla should pull through but in the meantime, us buyers will just have to wait.
