Lucid Air<\/a>, which started by delivering electric-car technology to other companies and is now preparing what might be the most sleek, attractive electric car on the market, is racing to get its Arizona factory built with speed not seen since World War II.<\/p>\n

Other companies bought factories from GM, Mitsubishi, and Toyota; Lucid is building to suit, in a state which has never been known for its auto industry (unlike California, Michigan, and even Illinois). The plant is to have just 700 workers making 130,000 vehicles per year; made of prefab pieces, it will have a good deal of extra space, especially in the paint shop, for future expansion. Batteries will be supplied by LG Chem, which will create a factory near the site if or when production merits it.<\/p>\n
