The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica has undergone some significant upgrades to keep Chrysler’s lineup alive and fresh.

Styling and trims: Right off the bat, we can see changes in both the front and back. New slim headlights with standard LEDs and “racetrack” taillights are new for 2021. There are four trims specific to the Pacifica. They are Touring, Touring L, Limited, and Pinnacle. The Pinnacle offers a ton of storage with its new “ultra console.” It is also the highest trim in the Pacifica lineup. Buyers can now also opt for a hybrid option in each trim, unlike the outgoing Pacifica, which had a standalone PHEV trim. Also new is all-wheel-drive which will be available with every configuration available except for the hybrid option. Colors for the new Pacifica include two whites, black, Velvet Red, Ocean Blue Metallic, Fathom Blue, and a few grays.

Interior: The new Pacifica also gets an upgraded with a new 10.1-inch seatback touchscreens can keep the whole family entertained. In front are new premium materials with new wood and Nappa leather seats that can be finished in multiple colors such as caramel that can be found on the Pinnacle. Premium interior options now become standard on the new Pacifica such as a 7-inch digital cluster and rear sun shades. Also Chrysler decided to add USB Type C ports, which is a class-exclusive feature. They also improved the sound in the cabin with a reduction in wind noise thanks to an acoustic windshield glass.

Technology: Doubling down on the Pacifica’s status as Chrysler’s halo vehicle, the 2021 model finally catches up to offerings from other automakers with a load of standard safety technology. Newly standard safety features include pedestrian detection with automatic braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, rain sensing windshield wipers, automatic high-beam headlights, LED head and fog lamps, advanced brake assist, and a stronger body structure for protection in the event of a crash. According to Chrysler, this laundry list of standard features gives the Pacifica the most comprehensive suite of standard safety technology of any vehicle currently on the market, something we hope holds true of other future FCA vehicles.

Uconnect 5 is now available, based on an Android operating system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are still available, though both can now be accessed wirelessly. Alexa is added to the vehicle itself, there is support for six different user profiles, and the user interface is redesigned with split-screen capability to give owners access to certain features right from the home screen. We can’t wait to check out this system in person, as it’s set to spread across the entire FCA lineup, with the refreshed Durango and next-generation Grand Cherokee to receive it next.

""

Upping the Ante: The Pacifica already held the lead in the minivan segment, but the new model with its available AWD, luxurious Pinnacle trim level, and classy design looks set to increase its lead over competitors like the Toyota Sienna and Kia Sedona. One might even say the 2021 Pacifica gives a preview for what’s next from Chrysler, with truly luxurious interior appointments and what may be a new corporate front end. With the 2021 Pacifica, one thing is certain: Chrysler is still very much alive.
